Chris Murtha is an independent curator and writer, living and working in Brooklyn, NY. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art from New York University in 2002. After practicing visual art and working within both commercial and non-profit art organizations, he became the Curator and then Director of Exhibitions at The Horticultural Society of New York. From 2009 – 2015, Murtha led a dynamic contemporary art program that featured solo and group exhibitions with emerging and established artists working in all media. His exhibitions have been reviewed in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Artforum, Art in America, ArtNews, Hyperallergic, and Huffington Post. Recently, Murtha has been a contributing writer for Artforum.com. He is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Art History at Hunter College.
